Chengdu Normal University was founded in 1955. After more than half a century of development, it has become a well established higher educational institution with strong foundation, distinctive features and various department for all majors. Over the past 50 years, the academic team has been formed, a group of academic leaders and academic research backbones has emerged.

The university has 46 professors, 172 assistant professors, and 284 teachers who have master degree or Ph.D. Among them, there are 3 academic and technical leaders at provincial level, 5 experts who enjoy the special allowance of the State Council, 2 Provincial fine-quality experts；and 23 people who are in the national and provincial academic groups serving as chairman, president, and secretary-general.

Since the 11th Five-Year Plan, the university has undertaken 116 national or provincial scientific research projects, including the planning projects of National Social Science Fund Association, the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Science and Technology Agency. Teachers have got 1426 scientific research achievements. Among them, 189 monographs and teaching materials have been published, 73 papers included by SCI, EI, and 222 papers included by national core journals. 37 achievements have won provincial above and ministerial level scientific teaching award.

Sichuan Psychological Association, Tao Xingzhi Research Center is attached to the university, and the university is equipped with Teacher Education Research Institue, the Rural Education and Teacher Development Research Institute, the Career and Educational Research Institution, and Early Childhood development Research Institute. Moreover, “Journal of Chengdu Normal University” is an excellent college journals of social science of national wide, as well as an excellent college journals of Sichuan Province.
